  • Our Wisconsin Association of Independent Colleges & Universities (WAICU) Achievers accomplish great things! This Herzing University student from Milwaukee is slated to graduate with a Bachelor of Science in nursing in December 2025. Her journey has been one of personal growth and academic achievement. Her experience also serves as an example of how the Wisconsin Grant Program can remove barriers and clear a path for anyone to become the person they were destined to be. “The Wisconsin Grant is one of those things that helps to ease stress,” she says. “There’s always going to be obstacles, but something like this makes the work you do a little less daunting — and it helps you see the end goal as something a little more possible.” Visit our website at https://waicu.org to read more inspirational stories from our Wisconsin Achievers! #WAICU

  • The Wisconsin Grant Program makes it possible for Wisconsin students to attend Wisconsin Association of Independent Colleges & Universities (WAICU). This Lakeland University student from Monroe is an elementary/middle school education major and soon to be teacher. She is a finalist for Lakeland’s prestigious Clarence H. Koehler Award, and attends Lakeland thanks to a financial aid package that includes the Wisconsin Grant Program. “It’s very important to me because I was able to come to a school with high expectations and not worry a lot about finances so I could focus on all the great opportunities.” She is preparing for her own classroom by student teaching this semester, initially in fifth grade and later in seventh grade math. The student teaching is a capstone to a variety of other experiences which will benefit her as a classroom teacher. #WAICU
