When the City of Milwaukee proposed cutting its down-payment assistance budget by 90%, Data You Can Use helped turn neighborhood-level information into action. The organization prepared district-level data showing who was being served, where homeownership support was needed, and what the proposed cuts would mean for Milwaukee families. Residents and housing advocates used that information to make their case, and the city restored $1M to the program. That is data doing what it is supposed to do: helping people see clearly, organize effectively, and push for change.
